Lawyer specialised in german and international family law

I am a lawyer, who is working now for some years almost exclusively in family law. In addition, I am a mediator and also a lawyer representing the children involved in custody cases in court. My office is in Lörrach near Basel.

Because I lived a few years in the USA and in Holland, I like to help with foreign affairs in family matters. You can easily communicate with me in English or Dutch.

I can represent you in court, handle your divorce, claim support/alimonony or help you in cases of custody issues.

Another very problematic legal issue is parental child abduction according to Haag Child Convention. If one parent violates shared custody of a child without parental agreement and/or contrary to family law ruling and removes the child to another country, the child can be brought back without investigating which parents is better to care for the child. This ist because this issue is to be decided by the court of the country the child had his/her domicile before.

Please write me an Email to make an appointment or phone me.

Amicable divorce

A lawyer can only represent one client and not both spouses.

However it is possible, that only one spouse wants to be represent in front of the court. In this scenario, the one spouse files for divorce with representation while the other spouse simply agrees. This would be the case if both spouses have already reached or are able to reach a settlement outside court.

There is also the possibility both spouses are represented by a lawyer, who cooperates and tries to find a solution in a positive way of dealing with each other. For example by sitting togehter in a meeting with both spouses.

Process help

My method of assistance involves me looking after the best interest of the child. I speak with all involved parties and particularly include the child’s wishes in the court proceedings.

In conversation concerns and needs, wishes and ideas, as well as the interests of the child and possible solutions are discussed.

A method counsel is appointed by the court, this is a recommendation and supports the child through the court proceedings.

As a qualification I have completed a 200-hour training for process support and membership in a collegial and interdisciplinary working group show. In addition, I regularly attend trainings, most recently at MiKK eV about the problems in country-border family disputes, particularly in the HCA method.

Collaborative Practice

Collaborative Law is a new kind of finding a settlement without involving the court, while still getting support from a lawyer.

The lawyer is part of a team, who is set to work out a solution but is restricted to do this outside court. It is a special form of collaboration and its goal is to find a solution in the interest of both parties.

Mediation Process

Mediation, is a voluntray process often used in law, as a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), a way of resolving disputes between two or more parties with concrete effects. Typically, a third party, the mediator, assists the parties to negotiate a settlement. Disputants may mediate disputes in a variety of domains, such as commercial, legal, diplomatic, workplace, community and family matters.

The term „mediation“ broadly refers to any instance in which a third party helps others reach agreement. More specifically, mediation has a structure, timetable and dynamics that „ordinary“ negotiation lacks. The process is private and confidential, possibly enforced by law. Participation is typically voluntary. The mediator acts as a neutral third party and facilitates rather than directs the process.

Mediators use various techniques to open, or improve, dialogue between disputants, aiming to help the parties reach an agreement.
